Packing Tips
Let's face it, packing is no fun!
It's a tedious task. But we're here to help. Here are some simple
tips that you should follow to prepare for a trip -- even if it's
just overnight. And don't worry if you forget something. There's
always an exit up ahead, and most likely you'll find what you
need.
- Check the Weather. Will
you need a raincoat? Will you need a bathing suit? Don't forget
to pack a sweater or light jacket. It may be 90 degrees outside,
but when the air conditioner is running full blast, your car
can get mighty chilly.
- Make a list. Write
down everything you need for the trip and check each item off
as you pack it.
- Leaks & Wrinkles.
Put anything that could leak into plastic bags or
waterproof containers. Carefully roll up shirts, skirts and
pants to prevent wrinkling.
- Packing Order .
Items should be stacked in the following order: Hardware --
hair dryer, electric razor, etc.; casual wear -- bathing suits,
sweats, pajamas, etc.; toiletries; dress wear -- dresses, suits,
sport coats, etc.
- Be cautious.
Common sense practices such as carrying your wallet or purse
instead of packing it, and placing your laptop computer in an
unassuming bag cold prevent you from becoming a target for criminals.
In addition, tuck your luggage tags inside a pocket so that
strangers cannot learn personal information.
