There's a manual!
An excellent source for the 'rules of the road' is your state's department of motor vehicles (DMV). Most DMV offices offer a downloadable driver's manual. The following is a list of U.S. DMV office websites:

You're not entitled! Driving is a privilege.

DRIVING TIP #6

Don't be in a hurry. Go with the flow.
Leave for work, school or appointments on time (or even a little earlier). Realize that sometimes something will come up to delay you - slow traffic, congestion, an accident, car trouble... You can't change it. Take a deep breath and just go with the flow. Know that no matter how you try to hurry, you'll still be late. And the days that you don't have to be anywhere in particular at an appointed time, there's no reason to hurry. Just relax.

Be courteous.
Put yourself in the other driver's seat.

DRIVING TIP #8

Don't direct traffic.
Don't completely stop forward moving traffic to let someone into the flow. If traffic is stopped, that's another story. Don't wave people in from side streets when there is multiple lines of traffic. You don't know where they are headed - they may need to get into a lane other than yours that isn't clear. Don't stop at intersections where you have the right-of-way to allow someone who does not have the right-of-way into traffic. Don't tell people when they can and can't go through a stop. There are traffic rules that apply.
